WORLD CONCERT DAY
A global day of music supporting good causes
World Concert Day was created and launched on April 26 2020 by Music Aid International in response to the COVID-19 pandemic as a global day of musical performances raising funds and awareness for charities and good causes. The 2020 event involved thousands of artists and fans from every continent and many artists performed from their homes in lock down during the first wave of the Coronavirus COVID-19 Global Pandemic. The World Health Organization COVID 19 Solidarity Response Fund was the main official cause and local hospices and health services, including the UK´s NHS, were also supported with direct online donations from the performing artists and their fans. In the following year in 2021 UNICEF - The United Nations International Children´s Emergency Fund was the official headline cause and UNICEF continued as the main cause for both the 2021 and the 2022 event.
Music Aid stopped organizing and coordinating the event after three successful years. From 2023 it is left to individual artists and charities themselves to decide if they will use the momentum created and the hashtag #worldconcertday on each 26 April. The event has been given to the public and the artists to carry on the work if they wish. If you wish to continue this work, scroll down the page for ideas and for original directions and details for getting involved as an artist, fan, charity or brand. The website domains at worldconcertday, org and worldconcertday.com have been closed down but we have kept this page on the main Music Aid website for reference.
